How to address an envelope
The recipient’s name and address
The recipient’s name and address should be written or printed in the middle center in the following order:
- Recipient’s name
- Recipient’s address
- City, State and Zip Code
The postage stamp
The postage stamp is placed in the upper right hand corner. When using an envelope that is not standard size we suggest that you check with the post office if there will be an additional cost.
The sender’s name and return address
The sender’s name and return address should be in the upper left hand corner for an official or business letter. For a personal letter you can write the return address on the envelope flap.

If you are sending a letter to another country then don’t forget to add the country to both the senders and recipients addresses.
